Can It Be Too Hot to Fly?

Temperatures in Phoenix are forecast to hit 120 degrees several times this summer. This can be concerning for passengers passing through hot climates because it can get too hot to fly.

Take the CRJ-200 (pictured above), a popular regional jet used by Delta SkyWest. It’s maximum ambient takeoff/landing temperature is 122 degrees. Larger jets can handle higher temps, for example most 737 types have a max of 129 degrees.
