The 3-1-1 liquids rule just won’t die
Most Americans were unaware that you could fly with a regular-sized bottle of shampoo through many airports in Europe. New scanners were making it possible to travel with any liquid size. In the USA, we still have this rule, called the 3-1-1 rule, 3.4 ounces in one bottle in 1 quart-sized see-through bag.
But that rule is coming back in Europe and the UK: “The latest generation of scanners allows passengers to carry electronic devices and liquids without quantity restrictions, but the European Commission questions their reliability and calls for a temporary restoration of the previous model.”
Europe will solve this problem, however, that presents a challenge for American as we have to comply with 3-1-1 departing the US and if connecting domestically back from Europe. The current estimate for the US is 2030. Don’t hold your breath, we still haven’t even complied with the Real ID act of 2006…
